Dominic was born March 30,1915 in Schenectady, New York.  A life-long resident of Guilderland, New York, he established a floor covering business in Schenectady, NY in the early 1950's.  Driven by a strong work ethic, Dominic also formed the Normanvale Construction Co. which built some 35 houses in Guilderland.  He opened a driving range on State Farm Road in Guilderland in 1963 which he later sold.  In the early 1970's he opened the Hiawatha Trails Golf Course which still exists today.

Dominic served in the Aleutian Islands with the U.S. Army during World War II.  On June 14, 1969 he married Joyce Williams who predeceased him on May 19, 1992.

An avid outdoorsman, Dominic loved to hunt and fish.  He flew his own plane to Canada for fishing and caribou hunting.

Two weeks before he died, Dominic completed a cruise through the Panama Canal.  Dominic owned a 41-foot cruiser on Alexandria Bay in the Thousand Islands but cruising through the canal had been a lifelong dream!

Dominic was also a great horticulturist.  He loved his greenhouse and planting.  He grew lemon trees, a fig tree and orchids.  Most of the flowers planted on Hiawatha Trails golf course were grown in his greenhouse.

Dominic's generous, lifetime philanthropic nature continued after his death (from complications of heart disease) thru the establishment of the Dominic Ferraioli Foundation by Will in 2001.  In addition to aiding and assisting medical facilities, the Foundation's trustees strive to award grants to 501(c)(3) organizations focusing on heart disease and cancer in addition to projects with a strong work ethic component.
